Yuan embodies a unique blend of academic excellence, cultural passion and innovative thinking in the field of smart cities and cultural conservation. Driven by a profound appreciation for both culture and sciences, Yuan seamlessly integrates technological advancements with cultural initiatives. Yuan has always believed that culture is the foundation of a place, and a city built on a culturally barren land will be soulless, so he wants to make use of his expertise in fields such as science and technology engineering to help realize his pursuit of cultural protection and dissemination. This innovative spirit of interdisciplinary integration is reflected in his numerous projects and achievements, all aimed at preserving traditional culture while utilizing modern technology.

My Story

Yuan's journey is a tapestry of diverse experiences and challenges that have shaped his path. A pivotal chapter involved engaging with the Bai’etan Art Center, where Yuan proposed a plan for a digital online museum. The Bai’etan Art Center is a fusion of the Guangdong Art Museum, Guangdong Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, and Guangdong Literature Museum, featuring 21 exhibition halls and 11 floors above ground, with a construction area of 65,000 square meters. This project exemplifies Yuan's commitment to using technology to promote and preserve art and culture.

Another significant experience was producing a documentary about a mansion built in 1847, formerly the British ambassador's house in Auckland, and participating in the restoration of this historic building. This project honed Yuan's skills in storytelling and historical preservation, further solidifying his passion for cultural heritage.

In addition to these projects, Yuan has also volunteered at the Guangzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Center, educating visitors about the history of Guangzhou’s urban transition. Furthermore, he established a poetry class in New Zealand to teach the charm of ancient Chinese poetry to friends with New Zealand cultural backgrounds.

From an academic's perspective, Yuan's academic journey is marked by a commitment to excellence in both sciences and humanities. Excelling in challenging Advanced Placement (AP) courses, Yuan achieved top scores in AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C: Mechanics, AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism and AP world history. His academic prowess is complemented by their involvement in various physics and engineering competitions, including the Physics Bowl and British Physics Olympiad (BPhO), where he have achieved outstanding results. As the president of the Science and Engineering Club, Yuan demonstrates strong leadership and project management skills. He has published two academic papers in engineering journals, showcasing their ability to conduct rigorous research and contribute to the academic community.

In relation to leadership and philanthropic work, Yuan is deeply engaged in diverse extracurricular activities. From participating in Model United Nations to displaying athletic prowess in Football and Basketball, Yuan embodies a commitment to continuous improvement and holistic development. Yuan also set up a support education organization in Xinjiang, giving weekly online classes on math and Chinese to children in poor areas of Xinjiang.
